Hardwoods are mainly deciduous, most softwood trees are conifers.
Yew is technically a softwood but is physically harder than many
species classified as hardwood. Conversely balsa is technically a
hardwood but as we all know is physically very soft!

Six Bar
The English Oak sculpture is made from part of an old
New Forest five bar gate. It is mounted on a hard
sandstone base and has Dutch gold added at the top to
enhance the warmth of the piece. Including the base the
overall height is 383mm (11.1”)
